The Britannia is a British silver bullion coin that is manufactured at the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom. The Britannia is one of the most well known and trusted silver bullion legal tender coins in the world. 2023 is a unique year for the Royal Mint as they minted two different one ounce silver Britannia coin variations. Only limited number of coins were minted with the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on them. The reason for this is that the molds for the 2023 Britannia’s were already made and minting had already begun the queen passed away. However, after she passed a new coin mold was made and minting for the King Charles III coin began. Both coins feature Britannia, the female personification of the United Kingdom, with her trident on the reverse side of the coin.
